this year’s concept:
drawing on leaves is a folk art of ancient times,its themes are varied – from ballads to epic rhymes. Colourful pictures, big and small, the style is familiar – it’s the patachitra of bengal. our pandal is decked in this pattern famed, sanjib saha is the builder’s name. To the idol the artist his passions devote, he is sanatan dinda, the sculptor of note. the entire zone resounds with folk songs quaint, the pata artists sing the stories they paint. the traditional art form still tells its stories, patachitra has not lost any of its glory. this year it chants the divine mother’s praise, hip hip hurray hatibagan – sombhatta says.
