- durga puja is a breath of fresh air, an indescribable exhilaration in the minds of all, irrespective of age, caste, creed and religion. joining the enthusiastic preparations of the communities of men are the fluffy white autumn clouds, the clear blue skies, the blossoms of kaash and sheuli. sweet music of divine advent pervades our surroundings; the smell of puja fills our hearts. the carnival bursts forth in joy, light and celebration.
the recent UNESCO acknowledgement of durga puja’s intangible heritage status gives bengalis ample reason to be proud of their annual festival. and encompassing the fulfilment of every sense we present this year’s joyous theme – the smell of puja. the installation uses the ever-popular terracotta in its various forms. beyond rituals and revelry, it is also a mark of our dutiful tribute of admiration and gratitude to the artistic creativity of bengal.
